...Together we can beat CF.

Five years ago, hearing ‘your child has cystic fibrosis (CF)’ felt like a death sentence. While CF doctors and nurses were careful to deliver hopeful messages with confident smiles on their faces, Paul and I were far from convinced. We could see the sorrow in their eyes—the lingering grief that said  they had loved and lost too many. The thought that this could be our gentle-spirited Paige’s fate crippled us with despair.

The only thing that saved us from our pit of hopelessness was our decision to host an event to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in its quest to find a cure for CF. Without hesitation, 150 of our friends and family attended the first WITH ONE BREATH event to show us that we would not have to wage this fight alone. Their support filled us with much-needed strength and courage.

Now, five years later, more than 500 people have chosen to widen their circle of compassion and embrace our cause. Thanks to you, O’Gara’s Bar & Grill, Timron Precision Gear, and our event sponsors, WITH ONE BREATH 2010 ended up raising more than $45,000 for CF research!

This feat would not have been possible without the more than 108 businesses and 36 individuals that donated items for our incredible silent auction. The night would not have been filled with so many fun and memorable moments if it weren’t for the 25 dedicated committee members and 40 hard-working volunteers that carefully planned and executed the event. And our little community of caring “do-ers” wouldn’t keep coming back (and expanding) if Sound of Simon, The Billy’s, Black Marauder and Lola & The Red Hots weren’t there to inspire us to sing along and dance the night away (until our achy knees and gasps for air reminded us of our age, of course).

To each and every one of you that helped make this our biggest year yet: thank you. Because of your unwavering support, Paul and I now have our own little hopeful message to deliver: “our wish for a cure will one day come true, thanks to you!”
