AN OLD IRISH BLESSING
RING MY BELL, Coon Rapids, MN
One shiny spring day, Ben and Sarah Olson, of Coon Rapids, MN,
eagerly asked their parents, Brad and Darci, if they could start
their own business. The budding entrepreneurs were granted
permission, provided all of the proceeds be donated to a charity of
their choice.
In the summer of 2006, Ben and Sarah launched ‘Kids For Cystic
Fibrosis’ - a delicious and affordable snack stand. To avoid
unnecessary overhead, the owners decided to set up shop in their
Grandma and Grandpas’ driveways. In preparation for their grand
opening, Ben and Sarah made an eye-catching sign, contacted the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for handouts, found helpers to make
homemade treats, and dug out an old school bell to attract the
attention of passersby.

When all was said and done, these two small children with big hearts
raised more than $180 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s
life-saving research program.
Ben and Sarah’s endeavor proves that when it comes to business, all
it takes is a great idea, a little sweat, unbeatable customer
service, the support of your community, and a really loud bell to
make an impact (and add more tomorrows for thousands of dreamers
just like them)!
